Sensational! From the letter ‘K’ to the letter ‘B’! Luiz-Rama clash goes viral during protest

Internet memes and jokes seem to remain the strongest weapons of Albanians, even when it comes to political revolts.

A particular banner displayed during the recent protest has brought back to attention one of the most viral clashes on social media that occurred several years ago between Luiz Ejllit and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Although it is an old line, the protesters have “re-cooked” the joke, giving a strong political message to the head of government.

It all started years ago when Luiz, then before his golden period on Big Brother, mocked the government-imposed time constraints:

” Yesterday you brought out the pensioners, today the mothers. On Monday, do it alphabetically: Let those whose names start with A come out, on Tuesday with B, etc. When you get to K…”  – wrote Luiz.

Prime Minister Rama’s response was not long in coming, describing it as “stupid humor,” but the closing of the debate fell to the singer, who ironically replied: ” Yes, I addressed you as Prime Minister with a K, then your mind wanders elsewhere…”

Today, this play on words has taken on another dimension in the square. Protesters have created a banner warning that this time the alphabet’s path will stop somewhere else.

” This time you will reach the letter B (Prison)! The people are not represented by a K who thinks of themselves as such!”  – read the banner that was photographed and distributed massively on TikTok and Instagram.
