Drone footage has captured spectacular moments when thousands of citizens dispersed through the streets of the capital, during the protest march against the government.
As can be seen from the footage, the protesters have filled the boulevard and main streets of the city, moving from the Prime Minister’s Office, towards the Municipality of Tirana, the area called “9-storey”, and then headed towards Kavaja Street.
“Rama resigns”, “The end has come for you”, “Edi Rama, thief, thief, thief”, and other slogans were heard repeatedly during the march in Tirana.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the head of the press office of Iranian diplomacy, Esmaeil Baqaei, following the controversy in which the country has been embroiled due to the citizen protests that have been taking place in Tirana for days.
Accusations that they are orchestrated and aided by Iranian agencies have reached Tehran, a regime that has officially reacted to Edi Rama, while the prime minister calls them shameless and oppressive who have massacred their own people.
“Here is the government of the Tehran ayatollahs officially joining the boulevard protest, even with slogans in Albanian, just like those who turned it from an environmental protest into a protest for the overthrow of the government,” writes Edi Rama.
The Prime Minister emphasizes that Albania does not receive lessons on sovereignty from a government whose operatives were caught carrying out cyberattacks on Albanian public services and institutions, which led to the severance of diplomatic relations between Albania and Iran.
“You quote Albanian protesters shouting in the streets. Very good. This is called democracy. In Albania, people are free to protest against their government, criticize their Prime Minister, seek justice and demand new elections without fear of imprisonment,” Rama writes.
