For ten days, the Albanian capital has been the scene of a wide wave of protests, where thousands of citizens have filled the streets opposing the project to build a massive resort in the protected area of Pishe Poro – Nartë and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In parallel with the protesters in the streets, various disinformation campaigns and unconfirmed information are being used as instruments to divert public debate.
The latest case is related to unconfirmed information, published in two online media outlets and then distributed by Socialist MP Ardit Bido, one of the most vocal defenders of the yet-to-be-projected plans in the area, according to which Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, was withdrawing from his investment in Albania.
“Now that the news is coming out that Kushner will withdraw from Sazani and Zvërnec to invest billions of euros in Mykonos, what will those who said that Greece is not behind it say?” Bido wrote on Facebook, referring to previous unsupported claims that Greece was instigating the protests.
Bido shared on Facebook a link from an unknown Greek media outlet, “Greek City Times”, which in turn referred to claims published on the social network X by Kosovo journalist Fitim Çeku.
