The head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, has emphasized the need to crack down on assets obtained from criminal activities, underlining that assets of illegal origin must be seized and confiscated.
According to Braho, these assets should be transferred to the state and then put at the service of the public interest, being used for legitimate purposes and for the benefit of citizens. He considered the confiscation of criminal assets one of the most important instruments in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
This reaction comes after an action where a structured criminal group with 10 members was hit, specifically:
Nicholas Bibaj
Isa Aliu,
Sokol Bibaj
Florjan Musaj
Armando Pacani
Denis Matoshi
Naldi Yzeiraj
Ouclid Aliu
Dritan Gjika
Shëtim Aliu
“SPAK continues to crack down on organized crime networks involved in drug trafficking from Latin America to Europe and the United Kingdom, money laundering and criminal assets.”
Assets of criminal origin harm the legitimate economy, free competition, and the economic activity of businesses that operate legally and honestly.
They increase the economic power of organized crime, are used to finance criminal activity, and do not bring any public good.
For this reason, assets of criminal origin should be seized, confiscated, transferred to the state and used for legitimate purposes.
“SPAK guarantees that its actions only target assets of criminal origin and assets related to criminal activity. In no case will the property rights and other real rights of natural persons and legal entities that invest in economic activities or private enterprises with legally acquired monetary assets and assets be violated,” Braho said.
