In a live television broadcast, MeteoAlb meteorologist Hakil Osmani made the forecast for this weekend and the remaining 10 days of June.
As he emphasized, these days will be dominated by high temperatures, with Sunday marking another increase, bringing the thermometer to 39°C in several cities in the country.
“Today actually remains a day of high temperatures, where since the early hours of the morning it has been noted that minimum values have been recorded up to 17°C in the cities of the mountainous areas. While in the western lowlands, air temperatures have fluctuated from 12 and very close to 22°C.
The highest temperatures have been recorded mainly in the coastal cities during the early morning hours. But not only that, even in the midday hours we will have maximums that climb very close to 38°C in the regions of Elbasan, Berat, and Gjirokastra.
The capital is expected to have highs today at 37°C. As for the coastline, highs are expected to be high today, ranging from 33 to 36°C. In the mountainous areas, we also have cooler temperatures, where we expect highs to range from 29 to 32°C.
Sunday will bring another increase in air temperatures, causing maximums across the territory to be recorded at 39°C in the Shkodra region, Elbasan and Berat are expected to have the highest temperatures on Sunday.
While in the capital, we have maximums that fluctuate around 38°C. The coastline will also see an increase in air temperatures, causing maximums there to fluctuate between 34 and 37°C.
Regarding weather conditions, at least until noon, the entire Albanian territory will be dominated by long intervals of sunshine. It is predicted that only during the afternoon hours we will occasionally have light cloudiness in the mountainous areas, but no precipitation is expected.
“While the coastline and a good part of the low-lying cities throughout the entire 24 hours of today and Sunday will be dominated by long intervals of clear skies,” he said.
Asked by the journalist how the last 10 days of June will end, the meteorologist said that the last days of June will also be with high temperatures.
“But not only this weekend, the rest of June is also expected to bring us quite high temperatures, maximums which at least at the beginning of next week will be in the range of 38-39°C maximums throughout the territory.”
“Also, a significant increase in temperatures in the early morning and late evening hours will be felt throughout the beginning of next week, where we will have minimums in the cities of mountainous areas at 18°C, while in the western lowlands they will fluctuate from 20 to 23 or 24°C in the southwestern areas of the Albanian territory,” he concluded.
