Public beaches with a fee, Minister Gonxha: Some have been charged 1 thousand new lek, related to high maintenance costs

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, spoke today after the Government meeting, where several decisions were made, one of which is related to paid public beaches.

Gonxha said that some public beaches have been charged up to 1,000 new lekë. According to him, this is related to the higher costs of maintaining beaches in Ksamil and other areas of the south of the country.

“The number of visitors to our country is at record levels that we have not seen before. We have an important innovation this year, regarding the management of beach stations, to make it possible to have a regulator in the market regarding prices and tariffs. And adding a new typology which is the typology of public beaches managed by local self-government units.

In addition to the virgin beach, we also have the typology of beaches, where some municipalities have set up all the services, including umbrellas, sun loungers, or showers, which in some municipalities is charged at 700 lek or 1000 lek. This depends on the beaches.

Because when we go south, towards Ksamil, of course the costs of maintaining these beaches, or the costs that are outside the off-season, to maintain the sand, to protect the beaches from erosion, from the impact of the sea during the winter, etc., the costs that these coasts have, are much higher. For this reason, the demand is also higher. There are some tariffs that are a little higher. The typologies of the beaches have caused even private beaches to maintain price ceilings, due to competition from these public beaches”, said Minister Blendi Gonxhja.
