Five days before the meeting of the National Council of the Democratic Party, where elections for the President and Presidency of the DP are expected to take place, democrat Paloka has revealed his withdrawal from the party’s leadership positions.
“I thought I wouldn’t answer now, but I have asked not to run again. For over a month now, I have asked, or informed, the chairman of the Democratic Party that I would prefer not to run again, neither for chairman of the National Council nor for any other senior leadership position of the Democratic Party,” said Edi Paloka in an interview given to Syri.tv.
Revealing that he will not be part of the competition, Paloka has expressed that he wants to have new names on the list, so that others can be given the opportunity.
Edi Paloka’s speech : I thought I wouldn’t answer now, but I have asked not to run again. For over a month now, I have asked, or informed, the chairman of the Democratic Party that I would prefer not to run again, neither for chairman of the National Council nor for any other senior leadership position of the Democratic Party.
I may have many ideas, but of course, I’ll say what I said a little while ago because it could be misinterpreted from two sides. First, absolutely, my commitment will not only not decrease, but will increase.
I have not decided that with this decision I have made at this moment, I will not leave politics, nor the war, on the contrary, I say it once again, I do not intend to end my political career. But I thought that at this moment, perhaps others should be tried, to do what you said, interweaving between generations.
Listen, I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s not a position that makes a person, no figure. It doesn’t change their values, nor everything that person has done in their life.
Edi Paloka does not change, nor does he take values from a position, nor does he lose values from a position he leaves. Of course, it is an assessment and I call it an assessment every time I have been appointed to a high position in the Democratic Party, but I say it once again, it is not a position that determines values, nor rejects someone’s sacrifices, nor his values, nor his contributions to politics.
