A family in the village of Perondi, Kuçova, approached the show Fiks Fare with concerns that their neighbor keeps a herd of sheep very close to their home, creating problems, especially during the summer season.
According to Mrs. Rronja Lahe, the sheep stay next to the window of her house, while the smell and the presence of flies make daily life difficult.
“We have gone to the municipality, but no one has met us or heard us. My window is next to where the sheep are kept. Now that the heat has arrived, the big flies are coming and we can’t stay at home,” she says.
To hear the other version of the story, Fiks Fare contacted the owner of the livestock, Demir Baki. He denies that the sheep stay near the neighbors’ apartment for long and says that they only stop there for a few hours during the day.
“I have about 30 sheep. They don’t stay here all the time, just two hours. I’m on my property and we live in the village, where livestock are part of everyday life. When I have the opportunity, I will build a hut,” he declares.
The Municipality of Kuçova has also reacted to this conflict. The Director of Rural Development, Nazmi Suli, explains that a working group has been set up consisting of environmental specialists, a veterinarian and the village headman to verify the situation on the ground.
According to him, the working group has conducted two inspections and has not found any environmental pollution or legal violations.
“No organic waste, excrement or polluted water were found in the area. As a measure, the installation of a dividing net between properties was requested. Regarding the smell, the working group did not detect any bad smell. Sheep are livestock that do not create odors,” said the director.
However, despite the different positions, the conflict between the two neighbors continues, while the family seeks a solution that will allow them to live without the inconvenience they claim is caused by the presence of livestock near their home.
