The government has started distributing the summer bonus of 5,000 new lek to all pensioners as of July 1. The news was confirmed by Deputy Minister of Economy, Olta Manjani, who explained that this decision came as a result of the good performance of the domestic economy.
In addition to this package, Manjani announced that in December, as every year, the bonus dedicated to the end-of-year holidays will be distributed.
Meanwhile, in parallel with the bonuses, pensions will undergo an indexation of 2.7%, which is based on the calculation of the basket for the last 12 months. This measure aims to directly compensate for the loss of purchasing power of pensioners due to price increases.
“This is not the first time we have made a summer bonus, we launched this last year, where we said that if the performance of the economy is good, then there will be special accounts. Since the performance was good, the decision was made to distribute income to different sectors of society. All these policies are part of the package that we have launched in recent years. It started on July 1, the benefit amount is 5 thousand new lek.
It started on the 1st and will continue until all pensioners have access to benefit. There will definitely be another bonus at the end of the year. At the end of the year there will be a bonus for the end-of-year holidays. We have a dedicated account at the Bank of Albania. They will benefit like every year, in December. This is a comprehensive policy and all Albanians will benefit.
We may have changes in the numbers. As for pension supplements, there is an indexation of 2.7% with the dedicated basket. This is a measure to compensate for the loss that pensioners may have from the increase in prices. It is a dedicated budget and always benefited. It is a moving average of the last 12 months”, said Manjani.
