The American organization “Renewed Hope”, a medical missionary agency, has been in the Berat region for several days, where it is offering free medical visits to citizens.
Located in the premises of the “Vexhi Buharaja” Library, the team of doctors and paramedics is organized according to specialties to cope with the high influx of patients.
The staff consists of 2 dentists, 3 ophthalmologists, 5 specialist doctors, 3 general practitioners and 2 internal medicine doctors. Citizens’ interest has been great, and at the end of each visit, the necessary medications have been distributed to the patients free of charge.
” This is the eighth time we have come to Albania and the first time in the Berat region. We provide medical assistance to people in need. We have 44 volunteers in the team, 43 from America and 1 from Honduras, while 25 others are support staff from Albania. Half of the team are doctors of various specialties and the rest are paramedics. Our clinics have been overflowing both in Kuçova and Berat, where the greatest interest has been in ophthalmological visits. We have performed ECGs, certain interventions and we have also set up a pharmacy, where patients are given free medications after the visit. Our motto is: ‘Touch the heart of a person to reach his soul’ “, says Daniel Jones, the organizing doctor.
After Berat, the missionary team will continue their tour of visits to other cities in Albania.
