Today at 10:00 AM, the next hearing for Ilir Meta will be held at the GJKKO regarding charges of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
In the last session, lawyer Kujtim Cakrani requested a re-examination of Meta’s income since 1992, while at the end he also unveiled a list of 134 names that he requests to be called as witnesses, including Prime Minister Rama, former MPs, his former associates in the Socialist Movement for Integration and several foreign citizens connected to the CEZ-DIA issues and lobbying, including Charles McGonigal.
It will be the court that will decide which witnesses will be admitted, as SPAK also listed 110 names in the last session.
After the hearing, the change of Meta’s defense attorney was also announced, with Cakran’s law firm stating that the agreement was terminated due to the loss of mutual trust and lack of cooperation between the parties.
Later, a handwritten letter from former President Meta was published stating that he requested the change because he wanted a lawyer to deal solely with his case due to the volume of work he has, as well as his availability. So far, the name of the lawyer who will represent the Freedom Party leader has not been announced.
