A gun attack has rocked the Dukagjini area of Shkodra, where 40-year-old Aleksandër Koçeku was executed with automatic gunfire while traveling on the Kir-Prekal axis. Investigations are focused on the revenge trail, linked to a murder that occurred 9 years ago.
At the scene, near the village of Lin, 25 automatic rifle cartridges were found, which according to investigators are suspected to have been fired from the same weapon. The victim was found inside the vehicle by a passerby, who immediately notified the police.
Preliminary investigation shows that the perpetrators ambushed Koçek on a mountainous road segment, with little traffic and no security cameras. He is suspected of being shot several times with a volley of bullets, unable to survive his wounds.
Investigative sources say that one of the main leads is related to the murder of Angjelin Shkambi in 2017. For this event, Aleksandër Koçek’s brother, Artan Koçek, is serving a sentence after shooting Shkambi with a firearm. According to the file at the time, the conflict was related to a debt of 40 thousand euros, but also to a personal issue between the parties. The family of today’s victim suspect that the assassination attempt may be revenge for that event.
Aleksandër Koçeku, according to investigative data, was also a person under investigation in the murder case of 19-year-old Pavlin Preka in 2025.
Meanwhile, the police and the prosecution continue their work to identify the perpetrators, fully uncover the dynamics of the assassination, and secure evidence that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
