The attack on an Albanian bus in Germany, which occurred last year, is back in the spotlight after new reports by German media, which shed light on the possible motives for the event.
According to the German newspaper Mittelbayerische, investigations have focused on suspicions that the perpetrators stole a significant amount of money, which was allegedly linked to drug trafficking activity.
“It was a report that terrified thousands of holidaymakers: In the heart of Bavaria, on the A93 motorway in the district of Kelheim, passengers of a tourist bus were allegedly attacked and robbed. It has now been confirmed: The perpetrators made off with a large sum of money, which may have come from drug dealing,” writes Mittelbayerische.
According to information published by BILD, three suspects used light signals similar to those of the police to force a small bus with ten passengers and a driver to exit the A93 motorway, near the Aiglsbach exit in Bavaria.
The perpetrators drove the bus to a parking lot, where they introduced themselves as police officers and claimed to be conducting a routine check. However, according to German police, they demanded money and documents from the passengers.
Authorities have announced that no one was injured during the robbery. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify all those involved.
