Weekend with extreme temperatures! The National Civil Protection Agency gives urgent news for Albanians: Get ready because it will hit you

TIRANA –  The National Civil Protection Agency has warned that the country will face very high temperatures in the coming days, significantly increasing the risk of fires breaking out in forests and pastures.

According to the announcement, the Institute of Geosciences has informed that during the period July 29 – August 2, 2026, a significant increase in temperatures is expected, while the risk of fires will be at high levels, with the peak expected to be reached on Sunday.

The regions most exposed to this risk are Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlora and Gjirokastra, where the highest temperatures are predicted. For the other regions of the country, the risk level for Sunday is assessed as moderate.

According to the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, temperatures will continue to rise until Saturday, August 1, when maximum values ​​are expected to be recorded. In low-lying areas, the thermometer may reach up to 39.5°C, especially in the municipality of Peqin. In coastal areas, temperatures are expected to reach up to 38.9°C, in hilly areas up to 38.3°C, while in mountainous areas up to 33.3°C.
