A serious urban and institutional scandal has been denounced in the heart of the capital, where public space and citizens’ sidewalks have been transformed into private construction sites without any obstacles.
This is about the Ali Demi area, specifically on “Kristaq Cipo” street, under the jurisdiction of Administrative Unit No. 1. According to the complaint received, the person responsible for allowing and openly benefiting from this abuse is the administrator of this unit, Trëndelina Jaku.
“Kristaq Cipo” Street is known as one of the narrowest internal axes of the neighborhood, where in many cases two vehicles find it impossible to pass at the same time.
However, this has not prevented new construction from starting on the sidewalk intended for pedestrians below the buildings.
Citizens are forced to get off in the middle of the road, seriously endangering their physical safety due to the narrowness of the segment.
The construction is being erected without anyone’s concern, openly defying the law and urban planning rules, while the head of the administrative unit herself seems to be a party to or tolerating this illegality.
In addition to the flagrant occupation of public space, the whistleblowers shed light on a number of strong financial suspicions related to this construction operation. Sources suggest that property purchase transactions are hidden behind this move.
There are serious suspicions that bank loans were used as a mechanism to justify the source of the money involved in this dubious investment.
This case raises the alarm for a clear conflict of interest and open abuse of public office by an official who should be the first to protect the interests of the community and public property, and not to turn them into favor of personal interests./Joq
