A strong earthquake was felt this evening in Naples and surrounding areas.

After the strong impact, many residents took to the streets shortly before 8:00 PM, as the tremors were felt in several neighborhoods of the city.

There are no reports of damage to buildings or injuries so far. However, authorities have begun verifications to check the condition of the structures.

The earthquake also caused power outages in several areas of Naples. Outages were reported particularly in the city center, the Chiaia neighborhood, and the western part of Naples.

Due to seismic tremors, rail traffic on the Cumana and Circumflegrea lines has been temporarily suspended for safety checks. The news was announced by EAV, the public transport company of the Campania Region that manages the railway lines in the Phlegraean Fields area.

The earthquake struck on a special evening for the city, which is also holding an unofficial fan celebration for the 100th anniversary of Naples. According to organizers, more than 10,000 people took part in the fan procession.
