The search continues for the miner who is suspected of having lost his life in one of the mine galleries in the area of Tërnova e Madhe, Zerqan Administrative Unit, Bulqizë Municipality, Ilir Koloveri, 40 years old.
Rescue teams, together with mine specialists and responsible structures, have worked non-stop throughout the night and are continuing the operation this morning, in an attempt to locate and extract the miner’s body.
According to preliminary information, the miner was trapped inside the gallery after a massive collapse of mining material. The difficult underground conditions, the risk of further collapses and the large amount of fallen material have significantly hampered the intervention of rescue teams, who are advancing carefully to ensure their safety during the operation. The event has brought back memories of one of the most serious accidents that occurred in the Bulqiza mines. In 2021, miner Muhartem Plaku was trapped for five days in one of the galleries of the First Zone, after being injured during the work process as a result of the collapse of a large amount of material. After a long and extremely difficult search and rescue operation, the teams managed to extract the body only after five days, due to the difficulties created by the collapse and blockage of the gallery.
Authorities have announced that the operation will continue without interruption until the search is complete and that any official information will be made public as soon as there are new developments.
Accidents in the Bulqiza mines continue to raise concerns about the working conditions and safety of miners, while such tragic events bring to attention the need for stronger preventive measures and continuous controls in mining galleries.
