The Italian media ” L’imediato ” has “dedicated” an article to Rameta, otherwise known as “Antonio the Albanian”, where it has told the “dark” past of the 37-year-old Albanian.
According to the article, for the incident a few days ago, the police initially received a call reporting that they had received death threats, and as soon as the carabinieri arrived, they heard gunshots coming from the public park.
Rameta was stopped approximately forty meters from the scene, while the second suspect was pursued and arrested shortly afterwards, thanks in part to tips from several passersby. During the search, two pistols with erased serial numbers, believed to be the weapons used during the shootout, were seized.
The “dark” past of “Antonio Shqiptari”
In July 2025, he was arrested along with 20-year-old Leonardo Russo from Foggia after a chase through the city streets that ended with the discovery of a 9mm Beretta pistol abandoned in a building in the city center. The two were stopped by police at around 7 a.m. while riding a scooter. After parking, they tried to flee on foot inside a car, but during the chase, one of them lost his gun. This led to him being found by officers.
But his record does not end there, his name is widely known in Italy and Albania for the bomb explosions that rocked Foggia between 2019 and 2020, he was arrested in 2020 and subsequently sentenced to 6 years in prison. The disputed incidents included the explosion of a bomb in front of the Poseidon pub in November 2019 and the January 2020 attack on the “Il sorriso di Stefano” day care center for the elderly by the Telesforo-Vigilante group.
Investigators have described him several times as a person close to the premises of the “Società foggiana”, a mafia group element that makes the new case of the shootings on Via Iarussi even more delicate, although it is said that he has no direct connection to the premises of organized crime.
