The rules for the organization and functioning of the State Police are changing. With the entry into force of the legal changes, some of the management structures and functions, the method of appointing leaders, the territorial organization and the rank system are affected.
One of the innovations is related to the position of the Director General of the State Police. After completing his duty, he will have the opportunity to return to the management structures of the State Police, but not to be reappointed to the position he held.
The change restores the possibility of the former Director General’s engagement at management levels, as the previous law did not allow this return and provided that after the end of the mandate he could only serve as an advisor.
There is also a new method for selecting heads of police stations and directorates. Appointments will be made by the Director General of the State Police, restoring the scheme foreseen before the changes of 2024.
The 2024 law provided for a competition procedure to be developed for these functions, while the new amendments return the appointment authority to the Director General.
As part of the territorial reorganization, the “Police Post” is also restored, as one of the basic structures for organizing the police service in the territory.
Interventions have also been made in the rank system, with reviews related to their organization and functioning within the State Police.
The legal changes thus bring about a reorganization of several links in the police structure, defining new competencies and methods for management functions and the organization of the service.
