Trump’s nominee for ambassador to Albania reports to the Foreign Affairs Committee tomorrow

Eric Wendt, President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Albania, will appear before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee tomorrow. The hearing is scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m., in the Senate Chamber (SD-419), where Wendt will give his testimony and answer questions from senators regarding his experience and diplomatic priorities.

Wendt comes from a long military career spanning over 34 years in the U.S. Army. He currently serves as a Professor of Practice at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), teaching in the areas of Command and Leadership.

During his active duty as a three-star general, Wendt was deployed to Europe and commanded NATO Special Operations Headquarters, overseeing all NATO Special Operations Forces, including Albanian units. He worked closely with Albanian defense leaders and military personnel.

Wendt also served for a year in Afghanistan as Deputy Regional Commander, overseeing troops deployed from Albania.

This appointment emphasizes the US focus on strengthening strategic ties with Albania and cooperation in the field of security and defense.
