Accused of embezzling around 700 million lek, the Appeals Court makes a decision for the former director of the Durrës Post Office

The Court of Appeal has decided to leave in force the security measure “prison arrest” for Elisabeta Mataj, the former director of the Durrës Post Office, Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha reports.

Mataj is under investigation and accused of embezzling millions of euros, in a case that authorities are continuing to investigate.

The appeal also confirmed the “house arrest” security measure for Mataj’s two former subordinates, Paola Danaj and Valbona Duni.

The case remains in the investigation phase, while its conclusion will determine the legal responsibilities of each of those investigated.
