As the taxi service business has expanded significantly, especially in the capital, the government has imposed new regulations aimed at providing greater safety for passengers. According to the instruction published in the Official Gazette and now in force, taxi drivers must undergo a course before being issued with a “Taxi Driver’s Certificate”.
Specifically, the instruction states that those interested in working in this service must obtain a “Taxi Driver Certificate” through the DPSHTRR service offices after having attended a 12-hour training course for taxi drivers and having been declared the winner of a test where they demonstrate their skills.
According to the instruction, the “Taxi Driver’s Certificate” is a document that certifies that the driver possesses sufficient knowledge to perform taxi service and is an integral part of the documents for licensing purposes in the transport of passengers by taxi.
The General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DGRTS) will serve as a training center for candidates seeking to obtain a “Taxi Driver’s License”.
To obtain the Certificate, the taxi driver must follow the mandatory training program and undergo an exam.
The training includes topics related to regulations and licenses; Road safety and emergencies; Customer service; Geography and navigation; Vehicle management; Economic and fiscal aspects and Professional ethics.
The theoretical knowledge test is carried out at the DRSHTRR, by computer in the electronic testing program for “Deshmi Taksisti”. The exam test is generated by the computer for each test randomly and consists of 30 questions formulated around the topics of the program. To be declared the winner of the exam, the applicant must have given at least 27 correct answers out of 30 in total. The duration of the knowledge test is 30 minutes.
The validity period of the Taxi Driver’s License is 5 years. In this case, the DPSHTRR, before registering for the taxi driver training course for the issuance, for the first time or renewal of the license, requires the taxi driver to provide a medical certificate certifying that he is medically and psychologically fit to perform the relevant activity, proof of criminal record, and that there is no active administrative measure for suspension or revocation of the driver’s license.
