A man was left horrified after being rushed to hospital after turning blue from head to toe. Tommy Lynch, 42, had bought dark blue sheets and slept in them for two nights when he woke up looking like “an Avatar”.
He was feeling “extremely tired” and a friend, who works as a carer, checked on him once before rushing him to the nearest hospital. Tommy was immediately taken to a doctor and given a bed within minutes, while concerned staff put him on oxygen.
When the doctor wiped his arm with an alcohol swab, the swab turned blue, and Tommy realized that his new, unwashed sheets were the culprit. Tommy said it made the doctors laugh out loud, but in the end left them “more red than blue.”
The construction worker, from Castle Gresley, Derbyshire, said: “I never knew you had to wash your sheets before you slept on them. Everyone in the emergency room looked at me like they’d seen a ghost. I had to go to the counter and I didn’t know what to say: ‘hello, I’m awake blue’.
