A young Albanian man who had been sentenced to just over five years in prison in Italy was arrested in Albania and this Thursday was extradited to Pordenone, where the court has ruled to keep him in custody.

Interpol Tirana specialists, as a result of cooperation with counterparts, finalized the procedures for the extradition of the Albanian citizen from Albania to Italy.

He is Armando Valchizan alias Armando Dervishi alias Altin Dervishi alias Armando Gheorghe alias Martin Dervishi, 42 years old.

The court of Pordenone, Italy, in 2023, sentenced him to 5 years and 9 months in prison for aggravated theft and illegal immigration.

The 42-year-old man wanted by Italian authorities was detained on March 11, 2026 at the Port of Durres while attempting to enter Albania using several different identities to escape identification by the police.

According to police services, during detailed checks at the border crossing, it was determined that the citizen was internationally wanted by Italy.

The Border Police detained 42-year-old Armando Valchiza, also known by several other identities: Armando Dervishi, Armando Gheorghe, Altin Dervishi and Martin Dervishi, for extradition purposes.
