Iran responds to Trump: The Strait of Hormuz has been, is and will remain ours!

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has reacted to US President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting the claim that the US intends to declare it American territory.

In a reaction on the social network X, Gharibabadi said that the status of the strait cannot be changed through political statements, orders or military presence. According to him, the US has suffered a strategic loss and must accept the situation created. “The Strait of Hormuz was Iranian, is Iranian and will remain Iranian,” the Iranian official declared, adding that its reopening will only be done by Tehran’s decision.

Gharibabadi also warned that Iran will continue the blockade as long as Washington, according to him, does not accept what he described as defeat. On the other hand, Donald Trump has declared that the US will take measures to declare the Strait of Hormuz “American territory”. The US president has also claimed that Washington has full control over the strait, a statement that Tehran has denied.

The clash of statements comes at a time when the Strait of Hormuz remains a key point for international energy transport and one of the most sensitive areas of tension between the US and Iran.
