38 people have been escorted by the Saranda Police for questioning in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Frenchman Miguel Mendez, who was found dead in the early hours of this morning in Ksamil.
Sources say that the arrest of other people is expected, in addition to 29-year-old Sokrat Vata, suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder.
As part of the investigation, the arrest of two Turkish citizens, who are suspected of helping Vata leave the scene of the incident, as well as other persons who may have knowledge or a role in the incident, is also expected.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Moisid Matushaj, a resident of Gjirokastra, who works as a Criminal Investigation Specialist at the Gjirokastra Local Border Directorate, has been detained. He is suspected of having assisted 29-year-old Sokrat Vata after the murder of the 20-year-old Frenchman.
Investigations revealed that Matushaj worked as a private police bodyguard, along with Sokrat Vata, at the bar where the incident occurred. It is suspected that he helped Vata leave the scene.
Police are also investigating the role of a Turkish couple, who were driving the vehicle where the perpetrator of the murder was allegedly hiding. According to the investigation, Sokrat Vata is also suspected of working as the Turkish citizen’s bodyguard.
Meanwhile, 36-year-old Bekim Bulica has also been declared wanted. Investigations show that he was at the scene of the incident and then left towards Tirana, suspected of attempting to evade the investigation.
