Efforts to identify and capture the perpetrators of the theft of a quantity of jewelry from a jewelry store in Kamëz, on August 5, 2026, were crowned today with the capture of one of the suspected perpetrators.
An automatic firearm, a motorcycle, clothing, silicone masks, and a comb with cartridges were also found and seized.
The Crime Investigation Specialists of Police Station No. 5, with proactive methods, under the direction of the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office, have finalized the operation codenamed “Gold”, reports noa.al.
They identified, captured and arrested citizen Argys Kalsi, 35 years old, resident of Laç.
The suspected perpetrator was arrested in Qafë Thanë while trying to leave the country. As he attempted to cross the border, Kalsi was arrested by the police.
Investigations suspect that this citizen, in collaboration with another yet unidentified citizen, on 05.08.2026, stole a quantity of jewelry from a jewelry store and then fled in a motorcycle.
Following continuous investigative actions and intensive field searches, on 06.08.2026, in a wooded area of the village of Zgafnur, an automatic firearm, a comb with cartridges, a motorcycle suit painted gray, two silicone masks, a pair of gloves, as well as other clothing suspected of being used by the perpetrators during the commission of the criminal offense were found and seized as material evidence.
Also, on 09.08.2026, in the place called “Qinam Lake”, Qinam village, a motor vehicle was found and seized, as material evidence, which is suspected to have been used by the perpetrators during the commission of the criminal offense.
Police say that work continues to identify and capture the other accomplice, as well as to fully document the case.
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecution Office, for the criminal offenses of “Theft by force committed in collaboration” and “Unauthorized possession and production of explosive weapons and ammunition.”
