The price of oil has increased again, Albanians are buying 1 liter of oil in the retail market for 219 lek. Before this Wednesday, the last change in fuel tables occurred four days ago, when the price of oil went to 215 lek/L, while today the same fuel costs 4 lek more.
From June until now, fuel price tables have changed several times, as a result of the ongoing tensions between the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
On August 15, the price of branded oil was $88 per barrel, while today this price has increased by $4, bringing the final price to $92 per barrel. These figures also had an impact on the Albanian consumer, making oil 1.86% more expensive than 4 days ago.
If we refer to data from the General Directorate of Customs, the day before, imported oil cost $54/ton more than the August 15 cargo, where imported oil on this date was worth $1,376 per ton, while 24 hours ago this price reached $1,421 per ton.
The constant fluctuations in fuel prices on the world stock market may force the Council of Ministers to reinstate the Transparency Board, which was suspended by the Ibrahimaj Ministry on June 19 with the claim that the situation in the international hydrocarbon markets has improved. However, the geopolitical situation during July and August has not been at all calm, which is also seen in the occasional change in the price of oil.
