Murder of 20-year-old in Ksamil/ First reaction from the Portuguese government

The Portuguese government is monitoring the case of the murder of the 20-year-old Portuguese man in Ksamil, Raquel Trindade, a representative of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the Portuguese media outlet “Renascença”.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following the case of this Portuguese citizen who died in Albania and, through its embassy in Rome and also the honorary consulate in Tirana, we are cooperating with local authorities,” the official said.

The latter has also stated that at the moment, it is still not known exactly what happened.

“We know from the local press that there have been arrests, but at the moment we do not yet have information through our network to share,” adds Trindade, who stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor what is necessary, both with local authorities and with the families.

So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of the young Portuguese man, including the main suspect in the murder.

The 29-year-old, with the initials SV, has a criminal record in the United Kingdom for criminal offenses related to drug trafficking, weapons possession and dangerous driving. /
