A fire of considerable proportions engulfed the green crown of Saranda this afternoon, in the area planted with pine trees near the Monastery of the 40 Saints.
The flames are spreading rapidly through the dense vegetation, posing a threat to several buildings located near the fire. According to reports, the flames have also reached homes and hotels in the area.
Firefighters have arrived on the scene and are working to contain the flames. The intervention is being made more difficult by the rugged terrain, where firefighting vehicles cannot easily access the area. For this reason, air intervention has also been requested.
There are no reports of injuries or confirmed damage to nearby buildings at this time. The cause of the fire remains unclear, while the situation is being monitored by teams on the ground.
