The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, had his travel ban on the US lifted in June 2026. Mr. Berisha has since stated several times that he will soon travel to the US.
Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, from diplomatic sources, has obtained this document from the “International Democracy Union” which shows data about a possible trip by Dr. Berisha to the USA this early September.
The document is titled “Confirmation of your participation in the IDU delegation to the Republican National Convention.” Further in this confirmation letter that Mr. Berisha received, it is learned that the convention will be held in Dallas on September 9 and 10, from where these details are given.
“IDU is pleased that you will join us and we are confident that your participation in this historic meeting for the Republican Party will be of great value to the Democratic Party of Albania. Further details regarding the delegation’s movements, accreditation and the event program will be communicated to you by the IDU secretariat.”
Meanwhile, another document obtained by Top Channel dated August 7 from the American Training Institute confirms Mr. Berisha’s registration as a participant in the Republican National Convention. After receiving this confirmation, efforts have begun in Tirana by Gazment Bardhi. Sources from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs indicated that Gazment Bardhi, in his capacity as the chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, has submitted a request requesting a state note verbale to enable Mr. Berisha to participate in this activity of American Republicans./ Top Channel
