A fire broke out in the early hours of the morning at a battery processing plant in the city of Elbasan, causing moments of panic and alarm for businesses located near the industrial area.
According to preliminary information, the event was recorded at around 04:00 in the morning (May 22), when flames broke out inside the department and spread rapidly, favored by the materials located inside the building.
Immediately after the alarm was raised, firefighters arrived at the scene, who quickly intervened to neutralize the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding departments and businesses.
Four fire engines and 15 firefighters were deployed in the operation to bring the situation under control, working for several minutes in difficult conditions due to the smoke and the danger posed by the materials inside the department.
Preliminary sources indicate that the cause of the fire is suspected to have been a gas leak from a storage tank located within the battery processing department.

However, the exact cause is expected to be determined after technical expertise and investigations launched by the competent authorities. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident, while material damage is still being assessed.
Police and the investigation team are at the scene and verifications are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances of this incident.
