The Transparency Board has changed the price of oil and gasoline again.
From 197 lek per liter, the price will be reduced by 2 lek, so as of 1:20 p.m., citizens will be able to buy diesel for 195 lek per liter.
Gasoline, from 186 lek per liter, has been reduced by 4 lek, so it will be sold at 182 lek per liter. The Transparency Board on May 23, 2026, at its next meeting decided:
The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 195 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 183 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 182 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 170 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 23rd, at 1:20 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected. We draw the attention of every wholesale and retail operator of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
