Vacation ends in tragedy/ 39-year-old man dies after jumping headlong into shallow sea (Video)

A moment of fun during the holidays ended tragically for a 39-year-old father of three in Turkey.

Arif Erman died in Alanya, Antalya, after jumping from a hotel pier into the sea, not realizing that the water in that area was very shallow. Security cameras recorded the moments before the incident. The footage shows the 39-year-old approaching the edge of the pier, gaining momentum and diving headfirst into the water. There were warning signs in the area prohibiting diving due to the conditions.

Instead of ending up in deep water, Erman hit the bottom of the sea, as the depth at that point was only about half a meter.

Attempts to save him

After the incident, hotel staff immediately intervened to help him. A coastguard pulled the 39-year-old from the water and began resuscitation efforts, while an ambulance was called to the scene.

Erman was taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to save him and he died from his injuries. Turkish authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident. Investigators are also examining whether all necessary safety measures were taken in the area where the incident occurred.
