Renowned lawyer Eni Çobani, invited to Grida Duma’s podcast, has recounted one of the most serious cases she has faced during her work, which she says has left a mark on her.
It’s about a very wealthy and very public family in Albania, whose names Çobani did not make public, but who, according to her, lived a double drama where on the outside they appeared as the perfect couple, while within the walls of the house hid betrayal, pain, and a fatherless child.
“A very wealthy family in Albania, where I unwittingly became part of the couple’s mediation, where I was closely touched by what had happened in that family. Very calmly, both the husband and the wife told me the stories that they had lived together, although in a private way. And unfortunately, they pretended not to know, but in fact they knew because when you are under one roof and when you are absent for days and when a child comes into life that does not have the paternity of a person you live with, you have to understand that something has happened. And I believe this was one of those shocking cases for which I certainly had to stay close to both the lady and the gentleman. Which never came out in public, of course.
I say this as the strongest because the names involved are very public and well-known names. And this certainly brought that shock to me inside to see and understand how it is possible, because I had met them time and time again as that family who only kissed and hugged and meanwhile they had a drama within the family, where their eyes did not express it outwardly, but they were suffering.
Wealth was the element for which they would never find peace, of course we reached a solution. The situation was resolved, they are not divorced, they continue in their love and of course they do not live physically together, but the marriage continues. The wife experienced the greatest trauma, her reaching those points until the arrival of a child was a little in anger at the husband’s occasional relationships.
So we are not talking about a person who had only one man, but had several and this led to the woman’s decision to do the same. But the arrival of a child had traumatized her, and not having the possibility that paternity would be the father’s because of course he had rejected it. She then decided that she would not do the separation because she could not share the wealth with those people who brought me to that point and continue to be in that relationship, “said Çobani.
