“The bonus for pensioners will be doubled” not everyone benefits from the increase, some are excluded…

Pensioners will benefit from a monthly increase of 600 to 1,800 lek, according to categories and income level, from January 1, 2027, but not everyone will benefit from the bonuses.

“In 2026, we launched the monthly bonus, while from January 1, 2027 it will be doubled for all categories of pensioners, in addition to the continuation of pension indexation. For this support, we have foreseen 22.4 billion lek more in next year’s budget, with the objective that by 2030 the full pension will not be less than 40 thousand lek and the partial pension will not be less than 22 thousand lek,” said Delina Ibrahimaj, Minister of Economy and Innovation.

The elderly, mothers with many children, or those with an income of less than 40 thousand lek per month will receive an additional 1 thousand 800 lek each month.

An increase of 800 lek per month benefits those who receive a partial old-age pension or who benefit from social housing below 22 thousand lek per month.

An increase of 1 thousand lek per month will benefit pensioners in villages, former cooperative members who receive less than 18 thousand lek per month.

But not everyone will benefit from the supplement. In the countryside, if you earn over 18 thousand lek, you will not benefit from the supplement, and the same goes for pensioners in the city who have an income of more than 22 thousand lek.

Also excluded from the increase are family pension beneficiaries who receive over 18 thousand lek per month. Those who receive less than this amount will benefit 700 lek per month.

The same applies to disability pension beneficiaries who receive over 30 thousand lek per month. Anyone receiving less than this amount will receive a 600 lek per month increase.

In total, 727 thousand pensioners from the country will receive a monthly bonus, there are almost 770 thousand in total. Only 36 percent of them will receive 1800 lek per month, as the vast majority, almost 41 percent, will receive 800 lek, followed by 10.3 percent who will receive 1 thousand lek, and the rest are in the values of 600-700 lek.
