PENSIONS, the government opens the “bag” on January 1, 2027, increases and bonuses: Categories that will benefit the most and the least!

Pensioners will benefit from a monthly increase of 600 to 1,800 lek, according to categories and income level, starting January 1, 2027.

Mothers with many children or those with an income of less than 40 thousand lek per month will receive an additional 1 thousand 800 lek each month.

An increase of 800 lek per month will benefit those who receive a partial old-age pension or who receive social housing under 22 thousand lek per month.
An increase of 1 thousand lek per month will benefit pensioners in villages, former cooperative members who receive less than 18 thousand lek per month.

Not everyone will benefit from the supplement. In the countryside, anyone who earns over 18 thousand lek will not benefit from the supplement. Likewise, pensioners in the city who have more than 22 thousand lek in pension income will not benefit.

Also excluded from the increase are family pension beneficiaries who receive over 18 thousand lek per month. Those who receive less than this amount will benefit from an increase of 700 lek per month.

The same applies to disability pension beneficiaries who receive over 30 thousand lek per month. Anyone receiving less than this amount will receive a 600 lek per month increase.

Only 36 percent of them will receive 1,800 lek per month, while the vast majority, almost 41 percent, will receive 800 lek, followed by 10.3 percent who will receive 1,000 lek, and the rest are in the range of 600-700 lek.

“From January 1, 2027, the bonus will be doubled for all categories of pensioners, in addition to the continuation of pension indexation. For this support, we have foreseen 22.4 billion lek more in next year’s budget,” said Delina Ibrahimaj, Minister of Economy and Innovation.

The average pension in the EU is estimated at 1,443 euros, up from around 180 euros in Albania.
