The British Embassy in Pristina has reacted to the decision of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, calling for calm and peaceful reactions.
The British Minister for Europe, Lord Wood of Anfield, said that the United Kingdom “respects the independence of the Court and its judicial process” and remains committed to justice, accountability and reconciliation in the region. He stressed that the verdict “is not a judgment on Kosovo’s statehood, sovereignty or right to determine its own future.”
According to him, the Court’s findings concern individuals and “should not be used to incite tensions between communities or across the region.”
“Political leaders and public figures have a responsibility to promote calm, ensure that any response remains peaceful and put the safety of people first,” Lord Wood said. The British Embassy added that the United Kingdom will continue to work with partners in the region to support peace, justice and a secure and prosperous future for all communities.
