An interpellation with the new Minister of Health, Klodiana Spahiu, is taking place in today’s plenary session, requested by a group of Democratic Party deputies. During the interpellation, among other things, the minister, under the obstacle of noise from the Democrats’ interruptions, showed that she has been working non-stop since the moment she took office.
While giving assurances that anyone who works with her will have her protection, the minister also made a bold promise when talking about oncology.
She stated that with the launch of the Oncology Institute, she will bring the “PET Scan” in January 2027, or else she will resign. This device is one of the most advanced medical imaging devices and methods used for cancer detection and monitoring.
“In January, the 2027 Oncology Institute starts, I either bring that PET Scan or resign,” she declared.
Klodiana Spahiu: In my first 100 hours, I probably worked without resting for a second, the group that worked with me worked 16 hours a day, whoever wants to work at this pace will be with me and not be afraid of being slandered by you. I will be on the interpellation every week, to show that working people cannot slander, that healthcare is a national asset that you have degenerated for your personal interests, and the people you have slandered will be with me even if I am only in this job for a week.
When we talk about cancer, we can’t just talk about the number of patients we treat, we need to talk about how many patients we diagnose earlier, or how much capacity we build. I want to let you know that starting tomorrow, the Oncology service has received detailed instructions on what will happen to a patient who is diagnosed for the first time. Listen to me, listen to me, you are an oncologist.
I have 32 years in the system, 16 years as a deputy and on the health committee, I know very well what has happened, remember one thing from my side, every hour of my work will be at the service of citizens, of patients, and my office is open from 8 am to 8 pm and as long as I am here I will not allow you to misinform.
