Sensational! Turkey brings back “Valley of the Wolves”, the series under investigation, what connection does it have with the death of the former Turkish secret service agent?

The investigation into the death of former Turkish National Intelligence Service (MIT) officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri prison in 2011, has been reopened after more than a decade. As part of the new investigation, Turkish authorities have decided to examine several episodes of the popular TV series “Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu” due to alleged similarities between the events in the series and the circumstances of Kozinoğlu’s death.

“Valley of the Wolves” was the series that set records in Turkey by emptying the streets of cities during its broadcast. It had the same impact in our country when it was broadcast at the time on Vizion Plus.

The series features the fictional character Kazım Kaşifoğlu, who has been linked by investigators to Kozinoğlu. The episode broadcast on November 10, 2011, just two days before Kozinoğlu’s death, has attracted particular attention. In that episode, Kaşifoğlu is shown being held in a cell, raped and threatened. Kozinoğlu, meanwhile, died on November 12, 2011 in Silivri Prison.

Another scene under investigation is from episode 139, which aired on December 8, 2011, about a month after Kozinoğlu’s death. In this scene, Kaşifoğlu appears after exercising and complains that his pulse has increased. He then gets into the shower and the character “Kara” kills him by injecting air into him with a syringe. Investigators are also examining other elements of the series, including a vehicle with the license plate “34 FG 7061”, to determine whether these details have any connection to the case or are simply part of the script.

In another episode, a tombstone appears with the words “Erdoğan” written on it.

Screenwriter Raci Şaşmaz stated that the idea of a tombstone being used to convey a message regarding Erdoğan and his family “is not in line with the values we believe in and such a thing has not happened.”

As part of the investigation, screenwriters Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener and Cüneyt Aysan were summoned to provide information as persons aware of the case. Meanwhile, Kozinoğlu’s grave was opened on September 12 and samples were taken by experts for forensic examination, in order to determine the exact cause of death and whether there was any intervention by third parties. The investigation continues and so far the allegations regarding the series are subject to verification, not proven conclusions by the authorities.
