Trump warns of ‘big decision’ on Iran war: Anything can happen

US President Donald Trump said he will soon make a major decision on how to proceed with the war with Iran. The statement was made in an interview with Axios on Thursday.

“I have a big decision ahead of me. Do I want to go in and destroy them [the Iranian regime], or don’t I? It’s a big decision. Anything can happen to me,” Trump said.

The statements come ahead of a meeting scheduled for Tuesday in New York with the leaders of six Gulf countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

Trump said he wants to hear the position of regional allies before deciding next steps in the conflict.

“I want to find out where they are and how they’re doing. We’ve been very protective of them,” the US president said.

According to Axios, the meeting could influence Washington’s decision on whether to continue diplomatic efforts or resume large-scale attacks on Iran. Trump has not specified whether the decision will be made before or after the US midterm elections.
