Voted at night and decreed in the morning by the president/ The law on the new salary formula for magistrates is published in the Official Gazette

The law that changes the method of determining the salaries of judges and prosecutors has already been published in the Official Gazette, officially entering into force.

Law No. 95/2026 was approved by the Parliament in the early hours of September 18, at around 01:30. During the morning, it was decreed by President Bajram Begaj and has now been published in the Official Gazette.

The amendments determine that the basic reference salary for judicial and prosecutorial functions will be equal to 0.38 times the salary of the President of the Republic, while its indexation will be made by decision of the Council of Ministers, no later than two years from the last indexation.

The law also provides that the change in the basic reference salary shall only have effects for judges, prosecutors and members of the President of the Constitutional Court. For other civil servants and public servants whose salaries are linked to the salary of a judge or prosecutor, the basic reference salary determined prior to decision no. 15, dated 17 February 2026, of the Constitutional Court will continue to be used.

The law enters into force immediately and extends its financial effects from April 1, 2023, only to the salaries of judges, prosecutors, members and the President of the Constitutional Court.
