For 4 months, a 12-year-old girl in Tirana had been living in a situation that was not at all appropriate for her age.
The family circle with whom she should have felt safe and learned values turned out to offer her the complete opposite, introducing her to pornographic materials and sexually abusing the minor.
It all started in June when the girl’s 32-year-old aunt first showed the girl inappropriate film material and then had intimate relations with her. The girl then had intimate relations with her aunt’s son, thus creating a chain of abuse.
The case was discovered by the school, which alerted the police after the girl had shared one of these videos among her friends.
According to psychologists, such cases take on these proportions due to a lack of parent-child communication.
Jonida Haxhiu, a psychology professor, says that “parent-child communication is lacking.”
What makes this situation even more serious is the fact that in recent weeks the minor’s mother had also been aware of this abuse but did not speak out.
“Even the mother was unable to communicate,” adds the psychologist.
In this case, Tirana police have arrested the 32-year-old girl’s aunt, who was married, and the 29-year-old cousin of the minor./Top Channel
