How much does an electric car really cost?/ Here is the price of charging per 1000 km in Albania

If the car is charged at home, this amount is added to the family’s usual consumption. For 2026, families consuming up to 700 kWh per month pay 8.5 lek/kWh. Thus, if the family continues to remain below this threshold even after charging the vehicle, 180 kWh of energy would cost about 1,530 lek.

But the calculation changes if the total household consumption exceeds 700 kWh per month. In this case, the price of 9.5 lek/kWh is applied, which means that the same charge will cost 1,710 lek.

Meanwhile, charging at dedicated points or stations has a higher energy cost. For 2026, for stations with installed power over 11 kW, connected to a voltage of 0.4 kV, the ERE has approved a price of 22 lek/kWh, while during peak hours it reaches 25.3 lek/kWh.

In this way, for the 180 kWh needed to travel 1,000 km, the cost of energy amounts to around 3,960 lek, while at peak hour prices it would be around 4,554 lek.

However, these figures do not necessarily represent the final price that the operator pays at a public point. According to the ERE, operators apply their own pricing model, which may include, in addition to energy, the costs of service, operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.

Peak hours apply from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM during the period November-March and from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM during the period April-October.
