The dramatic incident occurred late in the evening, when 42-year-old Nikos Papadopoulos unexpectedly returned to their family home. There, according to preliminary investigations, he found his wife, Eleni Karagianni, in an intimate situation with another man.
Sources close to the investigators say that a heated argument broke out between the couple, which within minutes degenerated into uncontrolled violence. In a heightened emotional state, Nikos is suspected of having taken a sharp instrument and attacked his wife, causing fatal injuries.
Neighbors, alarmed by the screams coming from the apartment, immediately notified the police and ambulance, but unfortunately when emergency teams arrived at the scene, 38-year-old Eleni was without signs of life.
The suspected perpetrator did not attempt to flee and was arrested on the spot, while the Greek police have launched intensive investigations to fully uncover the circumstances that led to this family tragedy.
