US suspends Green Card process for Microsoft, Adobe and several other companies
According to Reuters, on October 8, 2026 , the US administration announced the suspension of accepting new applications and processing of pending PERM labor certification applications for Microsoft, Adobe, Infosys, Cognizant, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, HCL Technologies and Capgemini.
This certification is a necessary step for many Green Cards through employment. Authorities justified the decision with allegations of abuse of immigration programs and harm to employment opportunities for Americans . The measure could block the path to permanent residence for workers sponsored by these companies. schwab.wallst.com
Microsoft said that about 80% of its H-1B applications during the last fiscal year were for existing employees and that it pays employees doing comparable work equally. The decision is not a blanket ban on Green Cards.
