Albanian taxpayers living in the United States now have another way to access their federal tax information. The Internal Revenue Service announced on September 25, 2026, that its new IRS app is replacing IRS2Go and adding access to selected personal tax account services. After securely signing in, users can view available balance information, make payments, review payment activity and access certain IRS notices and letters. The app also provides access to available tax records and transcripts, along with an Identity Protection PIN. For Albanian families managing their taxes in America, the practical benefit is easier access to information they might otherwise need to retrieve through the IRS website. Someone checking whether a payment appears in their account or looking for an available tax transcript can now use the mobile app. Users can also check the status of a refund or amended return through the services provided. Not every feature requires signing in. The IRS says refund-status checking, certain payment options and information about free filing assistance remain accessible without an account login. Personal account details, including balances and available correspondence, require secure sign-in. The app uses the supported sign-in process for IRS Individual Online Account services. People who already have IRS2Go do not need to download a separate application. With automatic updates enabled, the new version arrives through the normal app-store update process. There are limits to what the mobile service offers. It initially includes selected Individual Online Account functions, rather than every online feature. Business Tax Account and Tax Pro Account services remain separate, and taxpayers can still use IRS.gov, telephone assistance or in-person support for matters requiring additional help. The IRS also advises users to obtain the app through verified links. Its official IRS app page provides access to the correct store listings. The agency warns against look-alike applications and unsolicited messages asking for sensitive information, explaining that it does not request personal or financial details through unsolicited texts, emails or pop-up messages.
