Journalist Ola Xama joined thousands of citizens in protest in front of the prime minister’s office to oppose construction in Zvërnec, while calling on protesters not to negotiate with Prime Minister Edi Rama, who invited them to a public consultation on the project.
“The Prime Minister lied! He came out and lied openly yesterday at the conference. Don’t negotiate, because someone who will steal today will steal tomorrow too,” she said.
Xama emphasized that public assets belong to Albania, to Albanians, and not to politics, government, or businessmen.
Ola Xama: I’m a journalist and I probably shouldn’t be at the protest, because I have to report on the protest.
But, before I am a journalist, I am a citizen of this country. And I have come today not only for Zvërnec, but for all the public assets of Albania, which belong to Albanians and not to politics, not to power.
They are not in the hands of businessmen, it is not Shefqet Kastrati’s Zvërneci, nor Ivanka Trump’s, nor Jared Kushner’s. We are being lied to. The Prime Minister lied! He came out and lied openly yesterday at the conference. Do not negotiate, because someone who will steal today will steal tomorrow too.
