One of the most popular investigative shows in Israel, “Uvda” broadcast by Channel 12, has published an extensive report that has caused debate in Israeli public opinion, bringing attention to Albania and Prime Minister Edi Rama. The investigation focuses on a diplomatic process related to efforts to appoint businesswoman and public figure Nicole Raidman as Albania’s honorary consul in Israel, an appointment that reportedly became a source of diplomatic tension between the two countries. The year is 2023, when Rama was on a visit to Central Israel, at the residence of his friend Sani Sanilevich. According to the material published by “Uvda”, Nicole Raidman, known for her close relations with the Netanyahu family and especially with the Israeli Prime Minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu, had initially received positive signals for her appointment as honorary consul of Albania in Israel. However, the process was not finalized. According to the allegations presented in the investigation, Albanian authorities decided not to approve the appointment after concerns raised by international partners. The report claims that the United States had expressed reservations regarding the connections of Raidman’s ex-husband, Russian businessman Mikhail Chernoy. It was at this point, according to the Israeli investigation, that the clash began. “Uvda” claims that Benjamin Netanyahu personally requested from Prime Minister Edi Rama that Albania reconsider the decision and approve Raidman’s appointment. According to the show, the request was not presented as a usual diplomatic suggestion, but as a persistent insistence from the Israeli prime minister’s office. The report claims that Tirana continued to reject the appointment, causing discontent in Netanyahu’s inner circle and opening an unnecessary diplomatic crisis between the two countries, which have traditionally maintained very good relations. Published messages A significant part of the investigation is based on audio recordings and communications published by Sani Sanilevich, a former advisor to Benjamin Netanyahu. In one of the statements broadcast on the show, Sanilevich claims that during the period when he worked with Netanyahu, there was a political culture built on pressure and neutralization of political opponents. However, the report itself does not present concrete evidence supporting the claims about specific cases or individuals. Another element published by “Uvda” is related to messages that, according to the investigation, were sent by Topaz Luk, a close spokesman for Netanyahu, to the Albanian ambassador to Israel. According to the show, these communications contained harsh tones and came after the Albanian side refused to change its position on Raidman’s appointment. Beyond the diplomatic dimension, the report uses the case of Albania to raise broader questions about how the inner circle of power around Benjamin Netanyahu functions. The authors of the investigation suggest that the efforts to appoint Nicole Raidman are an example of the influence that personal relationships can have on political and diplomatic decision-making. In this context, Edi Rama’s name appears as part of a larger story that is currently being discussed in Israel, regarding the relationships between political power, personal interests and the administration of international relations. /Pamphlet Zvërneci/Rama clashes with CNN journalist: There are no protests throughout Albania, fake news SERIOUS accident!
