Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj has made serious accusations regarding inflated costs in major infrastructure projects and the incinerator affair, questioning the fate of millions of euros from the state budget.<\/span><\/p>\n

During an exclusive interview on \u00c7IM PEKA LIVE, he detailed a financial abuse scheme with the Llogara tunnel project, the total cost of which amounts to 140 million euros, while accusing the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) of collaborating with the government.<\/span><\/p>\n

Referring to the cost of the tunnel, Ahmetaj argues that the real amount of the works is much lower. According to his calculations, based on a historical profit rate of 11% for state-owned enterprises, the real cost of the project should not have exceeded 93 million euros. This raises the question of where the difference of tens of millions of euros ended up.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo where is this tunnel money? Where did it go? Who got it? Why did a realtor who didn\u2019t do any work get it?\u201d he asks, pointing to the involvement of middlemen who have benefited from public funds without performing any services. He also notes that the project is still missing important ancillary works, such as connecting bridges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahmetaj also extends his criticism to the activities of SPAK, which he accuses of selective justice. According to him, the special structure is bypassing the investigation of major financial abuses, such as the Tirana incinerator case, and is focusing on minor and unfounded accusations against it.<\/span><\/p>\n
